In this post, I have yet another guest conversation that I’m going to be recapping! Gina DeVee is the author of the book The Audacity to be Queen and I’m so excited that she joined me on the most recent episode of the Self Love Fix podcast to chat. About Gina

Gina is the founder of Diving Living, which is a women’s empowerment and lifestyle brand for entrepreneurs and career women globally. She’s dedicated to living life the feminine way based on pleasure. She’s into divine living and being women who love our lives and aren’t just busy all the time. What an amazing mission, right?

Gina used to be a struggling psychotherapist. She wasn’t great at business, self-esteem, charging her worth, or any of the things that came with being a business owner. She went into debt and was still living with her parents at the age of 30.

Something had to change! She prayed and asked for a miracle. She got turned onto life-coaching, moved to California, and things started to take flight. She had a dream of having a business and healthy relationship with money while empowering women’s financial success. She started her company and that’s what she’s been doing for the past 18 years.

Something I love about Gina is that she stepped out of the victim mentality and aligned herself with her standards. She explained that as little girls, we all read stories that said one day a prince would save us. Underneath it all, there is an inherent victim mentality inside of all of us because of this picture that is painted time and time again.

The mentality of a queen is that she’s intuitively and intentionally stepping up to live an epic life. This is because she has a strong spiritual connection and she can ask for her life to be used in the highest way. 

When we open ourselves up to the divine and miraculous, we open ourselves up to infinite possibility. Our biggest ideas are small potatoes for what God has in store for us. 

Women can crawl and scrape their way to the top, but it usually is difficult. But the queen knows that there’s a higher way to do so and that there’s always a solution. Gina is never afraid to ask for more and ask for more from the universe and God. It’s all about that abundant mindset!

Our Inner Archetypes 

Gina explained what archetypes are. Within us, there are so many different personalities so to speak. The ghost, the loner, the princess, the martyr, and so on all exist within us. 

The archetype of the queen is the highest version of ourselves – our full, total self. It can help us to take a look at where we are disowning our power and how we can recollect ourselves. The real reason that the archetype of queen came up is from Gina’s Christian background. As she read the bible, she realized that all of the stories were about different people. She never saw herself in them.

When reading Esther’s story, she felt it in her heart. It leaped off the page, and thus the queen was born for Gina. The whole point of Esther’s story is that it’s very much our own. Gina believes that, like Esther, we are all ordinary women destined to live legendary lives. 

While the princess would be upset about life not going perfectly, the queen – on the other hand – the road of the queen is not an ordinary one. Gina believes that now is the perfect time for women to rise up and own their queen within and be the perfect blend between the masculine and the feminine.

Gina went on to explain that all archetypes within us are active at certain points. There are two that Gina had going on at the time of our conversation. First, she saw a friend get an amazing opportunity. At the same time, she was thinking – what about me? This was the princess coming out. It felt like it wasn’t fair that her friend got an opportunity and she didn’t. She had to prompt herself to think, what would the queen think about this?

The queen within will write the cosmic thank you note. Inwardly, the queen thinks – thank you for showing me that I desire a big opportunity too. It makes her realize that the opportunity her friend received wasn’t part of her destiny nor had she even been asking for one that day.

The other archetype arose when another business dynamic came up. She was very clear that she wanted to set a boundary and make a move in the area. People she respected told her that she shouldn’t make the move she wanted to. Because of this, she felt the ghost coming up and made her want to be invisible. But she fought against it, going back and explaining herself again until they came around.

These examples show that it’s not always easy to choose the queen archetype, but when it’s aligned with truth – everyone wins. That’s where the double blessing comes in. When you need to set a boundary with someone, people may not like it.

However, if something is good for one person, it’ll likely also be good for the other person, even if they don’t see it at the time. But when we open ourselves up to infinite possibility, the next best opportunity will arise.

The queen archetype is about other people and your service to them, so that’s always something to keep in mind.

Schools of Health, Love, and Money 

Over the past 20 years. Gina has realized that there are three schools to be aware of: health, love, and money. She’s also come to realize that you can be a hot mess in two or three of them at any given time, but there will be one that will serve as your life teacher. 

Take J.Lo for example. She is flush with money, so that’s not her school. But, from the outside looking in, it seems like she’s typically looking for love, so that could be her life teacher.

The school of love, though, could bring about the victim mentality or that comparison trap that people tend to fall into. Gina explained that it’s really all about self-work and your belief system. 

Whenever we do our work, especially in the school of love, we need to know our worth. You’re just as worthy of love as anyone else! What makes you so special that everyone else is worthy of love and romance but you’re not?

You also need to tell yourself a different story. Your thoughts create your reality, so you need to walk around thinking you deserve love and that your soul mate is out there in order to actually find them.

The truth is that we have a lot more power than we give ourselves credit for and we need to claim that power and step into it. 

Blocks Around Money

Gina believes that money is a really personal thing, and you need to think through the biggest belief holding you back financially. Some people think they need to be something more to receive more money.

Other people believe they should be happier with what they have and not seek more money. But it’s important to remember that money goes where there’s a purpose. There are seasons in everyone’s life and you may be in a period of transition. 

If you’ve made the amount of money you earn affect your self-worth, then it doesn’t leave much room for your periods of transition. The universe will block a woman from wanting an extra $10k in the bank for security because it wants a woman to rely on and believe in the universe for security.

Paying attention to your purpose can unblock you financially and makes all the difference in your life and in the transformation you seek.

So many times we end up doing things we don’t want to do just to make a buck. But connecting with what you’re doing for your purpose and making it a spiritual pull will lead you to the best plan for you.

Success and Opportunity is for Everyone

It can be easy to think a high level of wealth or happiness is out of reach for people that feel so far away from that place. But Gina has been in survivor mode, making hardly any money and barely able to pay her bills. One month, she could hardly pay her phone bill. 

She found herself needing $75 to make ends meet. She prayed and an idea came to her. She started a CD of the month club and just needed three people to make a purchase to cover her bill. 

Not only did she get the three people she needed, but she got one person to pay for an entire year of the CD subscription. From there, she was sick of struggling to pay her bills. She committed herself to making $5k to have in the bank to be ahead and she made it come true. She got resourceful and partnered with the universe and it brought her what she needed.

Her mindset was, “this is going to work, so let’s get to work!” Everyone has that resourcefulness within them, so you can certainly tap into it and have that abundance, too.
